Gretchen Van Dyke is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Art where she earned a BFA in Painting & Drawing. A Northwest native, Gretchen spent her childhood in the rural Pacific Northwest. Years of playing, wandering, and working close to the earth have given her a deep appreciation for the natural world. Now as a painter she is drawn to those memories as a place, an inspiration for her work. Using primarily oil paint and charcoal, she explores natural/organic subjects through still life, the human form, and the landscape.
